18 Months!

Wow!  The last week has been sooo busy--I haven't had a chance to blog at all.  I keep telling myself that life will slow down soon....but that never seems to happen.

Anyway, the princess turned eighteen months old on Tuesday!  She's halfway to being TWO YEARS OLD.  I can't believe it.

Weight: TBA (Haha! I keep meaning to do this, but can't ever remember to until I start working on this post...after bedtime.)

Height: See above.

Clothing Size: 12 months/18 months

Diapers: Size 4

Shoes:  Size 6

Eating: Aniston continues to be a great eater!  She will try anything and there are very few things she doesn't like.  (She's not a fan of corn or peas.)  She loves fruit--blueberries, watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, oranges, pears, bananas....we haven't found any fruit she doesn't like.  Lately we've given her apple slices and sliced grapes for the first time, and she loves them.  She also tried muscadines from our vine last week.  Aniston is a huge fan of applesauce (the squeezy kind), yogurt, goldfish, teddy grahams, and frozen yogurt/ice cream.  She loves all kinds of meat and veggies, especially green beans.  If I had to name one thing that is her absolute favorite food, I would have to say tomatoes.  That's a little strange, I know, but she LOVES them.  (She's going to be so disappointed this winter when tomatoes aren't around constantly and aren't as good!)  She's doing better with her spoon and fork, but would still rather use her fingers at this point.  She loves milk, apple juice, orange juice, and water.

Hair/Eyes: Aniston's eyes are blue. Her hair is a really light brown. She has the cutest curls at the back of her hair.  It has really grown over the last few months.  When it's wet, it reaches falls between her shoulder blades!

Sleep: Aniston sleeps pretty well most nights.  Her bedtime is around 7:30 (sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later).

Likes:
--Dancing
--Sneaking up on people or pets (When she sneaks, she bends her knees while she walks.  That's how you know she's sneaking.  Precious!)
--Playing outside
--Tickling and being tickled (She says "tickle tickle tickle".)
--Yo Gabba Gabba and Wonder Pets
--The Sid Shuffle from Ice Age 4
--Baby dolls and real babies
--Playing ball with Lucy (Aniston throws or kicks the ball and Lucy pushes it back with her nose.)
--Pretend play.  Lately she has started "cooking" in her play kitchen while Bradley and I fix dinner.  She also pretends that everything is a phone.  (She definitely gets that from Bradley, by the way.  He's much more of a phone talker than I am, believe it or not.)
--Cleaning!  The girl can't stand a mess, and is constantly picking things up and wiping things with a cloth.  She loves throwing trash away.
--Driving her cozy coupe.  She's finally learned how to sit on the seat and push with her feet without sliding through the bottom.  It's much more fun to stay in the car rather than underneath it.
--Blowing and popping bubbles outside

Fun Stuff:
--Aniston has nine teeth--the top four front, bottom four front, and one molar.
--She can walk on her tippy toes.
--She is really loving.  She loves giving hugs and kisses (wet, sloppy ones are her specialty!).  When she hugs, she says, "Awww!"
--"Uh-oh" is a favorite phrase right now.
--She is a people person and an entertainer.  She loves being the center of attention and will do anything to make you smile.
--She has learned to squeal.  Loudly.

Our Weekend

We've had a wonderful, busy weekend!

On Saturday we went to an extended family reunion with my maternal grandmother's side.  It was great to catch up with people we haven't seen in a while, especially my aunt, uncle, and cousins from Richmond.  We don't get to see them nearly enough!  Thankfully, facebook allows us to keep in touch better now than we ever have before.  Aniston had fun playing with her cousins and learned to play Ring Around the Rosie.  Bradley and I have played Ring Around the Rosie countless times since then, and Aniston has also played by herself by wrapping her arms around her shoulders and spinning around.  It's really cute.  Of course, her favorite part is falling down!

Bradley filled in for a bass player in a band on Saturday night so Aniston and I were on our own.  After we had dinner with my parents, we went with my mom to Aunt Marie's to spend a little more time with everyone since Brenda and Bob were leaving today.  Aniston found a new best friend in Uncle Bob and Aunt Brenda piled up couch cushions so Aniston could slide.  Between all the watermelon Bob shared with her, sliding on the couch cushions, the huge box of toys Marie pulled out for her, and the way Howard always plays, Aniston was in heaven!  She was the only little one there, so of course she loved being the center of attention.

Today we missed church. :(  Aniston slept later than usual since we didn't get home until late last night.  We still had time to make it (barely) but she was in a foul mood (unusual for her, especially in the morning) and kept crying as I tried to get her ready.  So we just decided to stay home.  We had a relaxed morning here, then went out to lunch at a favorite barbecue place.  As we were leaving, the waiter offered Aniston a lollipop.  In typical Aniston fashion, she took two. ;)  The rest of our Sunday has been spent watching football, catching up on a few things around here, and pulling out some of our fall decorations.

I hope y'all have had a wonderful weekend too!

Friday Letters

Happy Friday! :) I'm linking up with Ashley again this week for Friday Letters!

Dear Bradley, You scored major points on Tuesday when you picked up dinner.  You called, realized I was still at work (it was after 5 already), and made the decision to make life easier.  You have no idea how much little stuff like that means to me.

Dear Time, Please slow down.  Aniston will be 18 months old in four days.  How is that possible?!

Dear Fall, As sad as I always am to see summer end, I'm excited to meet you tomorrow.  The pumpkin patch, the fair, cool weather, Halloween, Thanksgiving...lots of fun things are just ahead!

Dear Fantasy Football, How is it that you have such power over grown men?  Constant score checking, endless texting.  I think you're a bit ridiculous and I'm not a fan.  I'm especially not a fan when my sweet husband wakes me up to let me know that it was close, but his team won.  (That's a true story, friends.)

Dear (I-Swear-I-Saw-Something-Move) Thing in the Garage, Please be a figment of my imagination, not a mouse.  Or any other live thing.  (Except maybe a rabbit.  Did I ever tell you that we had a baby rabbit in our garage the first summer we lived here?  A baby rabbit would be okay.  I could deal with that.  Anything else? Definitely not okay.)

Dear Weekend, Please pass slowly. :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving that I left work at 3:30 for the first time all year!  Even though my day technically ends at 3:15, there's always so much to do.  I finally felt "caught up" enough today.  Let me tell you, it was a wonderful feeling!  I'm pretty sure I was grinning from ear to ear as I headed for the parking lot.

I'm loving that I had my nails done today.  I  always feel more together with pretty nails.  I'm not sure why that is, but it's true!  Ha!

I'm loving that I had to buy new dress pants today because my old ones are too big.  Yay! :)

I'm loving my sweet, funny Aniston.  Today she started shrugging her shoulders and throwing her arms in the air when anyone asked her a question she didn't know the answer to.  Hilarious.

I'm loving the sunshine we had today.  After a few days of rain and clouds, it was so nice to see the sun!  The temperature was fantastic too.  It was such a gorgeous day!

I'm loving "me time".  I think it is so important to take a little time for yourself, but I'm often guilty of not doing that.  It makes a huge difference in my attitude and the way I feel.

I'm loving that my bag is packed with my running clothes.  Hopefully tomorrow after work I'll be able to go.

I'm loving sleep!  Aniston went through a few nights of restlessness, but I think we're past it now.  Uninterrupted sleep is the best thing ever.

Friday Letters

Leslie isn't hosting a linky for Confessional Friday right now.  I realized this last week, but already had my post ready to go, so I posted it without having anywhere to link up to...which is no fun, because the linky is the fun part.

SO.  I'm participating in a new linky this week!  You'll still see the confessions sometime during the week (just because I think it's fun, and a quick way to post odds and ends), but on Fridays now you'll be reading Friday Letters!

Dear Bradley, I love you more than words, and I love all your crazy quirks.  That being said, you and your quirks drive me crazy sometimes. :)

Dear Squirrel in the Road, You know I'll stop for you because I do it every single time.  I think it's because I feel a kinship with you--I'm indecisive, too, and so that makes us two of a kind.  Just because you can't make up your mind doesn't mean that you should be ran over.  However, if I am ever rear-ended because of you, I'm pretty sure my husband will never let me hear the end of it.

Dear Bus Driver,  Thank you, thank you, thank you for often stopping to let me pull out of my driveway before you.  Going 30mph down my road is not a fun way for me to start my morning, and I appreciate you realizing that.  You are a sweet, kind soul and I'm sure lots of treasures in heaven await you.

Dear Lucy, I understand that you are a puppy princess, but this tap-dancing in the middle of the night because you won't jump onto the bed if anyone is in it must go.  It's not fun, and it doesn't make me feel kindly toward you.

Dear Ethel, You sleep with your eyes open, and that's just weird.

Dear Aniston, You are the funniest little thing.  You are a constant source of joy and I love you so much!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

It's my first time linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

--I'm loving the (slightly) cooler weather we've had this week! We've had so much fun playing outside with Aniston in the evenings.

--I'm loving Cherry Lemon Sundrop.  Hands down, favorite soft drink ever.

--I'm loving that Aniston will go to her very first Apple Festival on Saturday!  We didn't take her last year because it was rainy.  The weather forecast for this year looks perfect though!

--I'm loving that it's almost time for TV shows to return with new episodes.

--I'm loving these Tiny TOMS for Aniston.

--I'm loving the song Taylor Swift wrote for Ronan....even though it makes me cry.  I can't even begin to imagine what Ronan and his parents went through.  I've read some of his mom's blog, and it's just heartbreaking.  As in, I can't make it through a single post without tears streaming down my face. The single is on iTunes and all proceeds are going to cancer related charities.

Life Lately

It's week three of the school year.

The first week, I did pretty well.  All my the-summer's-nearly-over-and-my-house-needs-to-be-spotless-before-I-go-back-to-work cleaning paid off, and other than tidying up every night before bed, nothing really had to be done.  I cooked dinner every night that week.  Laundry didn't pile up at all.  My classroom was organized and running smoothly, home was organized and running smoothly, and life was completely under control.

((Enter last week.))

Last week was an interesting week.  I got a student teacher, which was a little unexpected. (It's going to work out great, by the way, although I do feel kind of bad that he has to do his student teaching in a classroom with a zebra theme.  Oops.)  I worked until after five every day and brought things home to work on, too.  I ignored the house.  Clothes hampers nearly overflowed.  "Cooking dinner" consisted of making Hamburger Helper or turkey sandwiches.

Somehow, even with the weekend in between, the chaos has carried over to this week.  My classroom is still organized and running smoothly, but home?  Not so much.

I need to find a balance again.  I need to find more energy.  I need to hire a cleaning service.  (Ha! Kidding...kind of.)  I mean, really.  There are just not enough hours in the day.  Not to mention the fact that I'd just rather play with Aniston when I get home instead of doing anything else.  I keep thinking, "Today, I'll catch up,"...but it just hasn't happened yet.  Sigh.  One day I'll get it all under control.

Until then, though, I'm going to love life for what it is right now.  It's a little chaotic and sometimes messy, but it's also beautiful and happy and fun.  And that, friends, is what it's all about in the end.

Friday Confessions

I confess...

1.  ...I am really, really good at kids Jeopardy.  Ha!

2.  ...for a four-day week, it's been LONG.  Not bad, just long.

3.  ...we've survived on turkey sandwiches and Hamburger Helper this week.  I'm definitely on the path to wife/mommy of the year.  :-P

4. ...I can't seem to get caught up on life lately.  Good grief, it's too busy.

5.  ...my hair appointment was on Wednesday. No more roots!  Yay!

6. ...sitting under the dryer at the salon was probably the most relaxing thing I've done all week.  I could have stayed there forever.

7.  ...I constantly narrate everything I'm thinking.  What's crazy is that I hadn't noticed until this week that I do it.
