A Cute Little Pep Talk

When I logged in to my Blogger feed this morning, I noticed several people had posted this video. I was curious, so I spent a few precious getting ready minutes watching it.  Now I'm spending a few more precious minutes blogging about it, which means I'm going to be in a mad rush to get out the door on time.  But I just had to share!  This kid is too cute, and the, "Not cool, Robert Frost!" just kills me.  Enjoy!

Friday Confessions

This week I confess....

-We dismissed at 10 today because of all this icy mess. I could have done lots of stuff around the house, but I didn't.  I finished a book, played with Aniston, and napped instead. It was a good day. :)

-I'm ready for spring. If we're not going to have snow (not sleet, not a few flakes, but real SNOW), this cold weather can go.

-I've been watching American Idol. I swore I wasn't going to, and then I was sucked in again this season.

-Our bed has been princess-free for the last two nights. And you know what? I kind of miss her being there.

-Bradley is watching The Day After Tomorrow while I blog.  I know it's a movie, but still. I never want to be that cold. Ever, ever, ever.  Brrrr.

And that's it for tonight. Have a great weekend, y'all!

Project 365: Weeks 2 and 3

Since the princess hasn't been sleeping well, my blogging has suffered.  I'm behind.  Again.  I'm not sure why that surprises me.  :)

As of this minute, Aniston is in HER CRIB sleeping peacefully.  Hallelujah!  I'm not sure how long it will last (she slept in her crib last night until 11:30), but I'm thankful that our night has been (somewhat) drama free so far.  So I'm catching up on Project 365.  And doing laundry.  :)

Day 8: Lucy puts up with a lot.
 Day 9: Over the shoulder
Day 10: The preferred way to ride the four wheeler
Day 11: Yum!
Day 12: Playing with Colton

Day 13: Oh my.
Day 14: At-home gel nails.  More on this later.
Day 15: Playing dress up
Day 16: Shopping at Lowe's
Day 17: I missed a day.  Oops.
Day 18: We sent this picture to Bradley while he was out on Friday night with a message  that said, "Dear Daddy, Guess where I am again?!" Answer?  Our bed.

Day 19:  When one pillow isn't enough, grab two.

Day 20: Playing under the table with Abigail! :)
Day 21: Cute little crossed feet!

Our Weekend

Our weekend was blissfully simple, which was exactly what I needed.  Aside from lunch with Bradley's parents on Saturday and lunch with my extended family yesterday, we didn't do much of anything.  Exciting weekend? Not really. Relaxing? Absolutely. :)

In other, not-so-relaxing news...the princess is currently waging a war in our home.  She is her sweet, precious self until bedtime....then she turns into a screaming little thing that is determined to sleep in our bed or not sleep at all.  This has been going on for two weeks now, and let me tell you, it's rough. We've tried all sorts of things to get her to sleep in her room again but, so far, nothing has worked.  I'm not sure what changed, but something definitely has.

The extra snuggles are nice, but the random elbow throws, kicks, and head butts? Not so much.  Ha! ;)

Project 365: Week One

We're one week into 2013 and so far I'm loving it.  :)  Resolution-wise, I'm doing pretty well, too!  I didn't work on one single thing from work at home this week!  Oh, sure, I stayed late at work every day (I've never been able to leave at 3:15), but I didn't work on anything here...and that's a huge improvement.

I've been finding "me time" in my day everyday, even if it's only ten minutes before I go to bed.  That wasn't a named resolution of mine, but I think it's necessary.  A happier me leads to a better me, and that was on the resolution list.  I've actually read a couple of books this week!

I've kept up with Project 365 this week, which has been fun.  I know I'll treasure these day-by-day pictures at the end of the year.  If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you've probably seen most of these.  But for the rest of you, here's Week One of 2013 in pictures!

Day One: Sweet princess
Day Two:  Back to work today!

Day Three: The schnauzers were caught in a Spaghettio-flinging frenzy.
Day Four: A Pinterest project
Day Five: Brooke and I tried sushi for the first time!
Day Six:  Lucy likes nummies, too.
Day Seven: Bradley gave Aniston a mini Cutie orange, thinking she would just hold it.
Not so much.

Remember When...?

Life changes when you have a baby.

When I was pregnant, people said that all the time.  I wanted to roll my eyes.  Um, yeah, I realize that, I would think to myself.  I understood that I would sleep less, have more to do, and be responsible for this tiny human who had to rely completely on me for everything she needed.

What I failed to understand was how a baby would change the little things in life.

Like I mentioned yesterday, we went to dinner with friends over the weekend.  Aniston and their daughter, K, went with us, and the whole night was pretty comical.  K cried because she bit her own finger.  Aniston cried because she wanted "nummies".  The adults laughed a lot, because that's what you do when you're a parent--you laugh and you play the "remember when..." game.  Remember when you could go out to dinner and it was a peaceful experience?  Remember when you could eat dinner on the couch in front of the tv?  Remember when you could come home from work and read a book?  Or lay on the couch and watch tv?  Remember when you could clean your house once a week and it actually stayed clean?  And then there's the big question that always follows the remember when game--What did I do with all that free time?!  Ha!

There's not much time for relaxing anymore.  We don't watch tv until after Aniston's bedtime.  Going out to eat is certainly not easy...and sometimes not very enjoyable!  Our house never stays clean, even though it feels like I pick up toys constantly.  And free time?  What is that?!

It makes me laugh to think about how much our life has changed since we had her.  Tonight--instead of watching tv or playing on the computer or doing anything else we used to do in our 'before Aniston' life--we sat on the floor in her playroom and played.  We played princesses and babies.  We watched her slide on her little slide and listened to her giggle.  She gave us huge hugs and kisses, and smiled the biggest smiles.

And sitting there in that moment, when I could have cried because I was so happy, I played another "Remember when" game.  Remember when our house was too quiet?  Remember when it was neat and tidy because we had no need for toys?  Remember when we thought the life we're living right now might not be possible?

I'll take a not-so-peaceful dinner, a toy-cluttered house, and no free time any day.  :)

Our Weekend

Our weekend has been great!  I only had to work three days last week, but it seemed so much longer.  It was hard to get back into the swing of things after Christmas break, so I was glad to see Friday roll around!  We've had a pretty laid back weekend, and it has been so nice.  After all the rushing around getting ready for Christmas, and then all the Christmas festivities, I've enjoyed having a "regular" weekend.

We went out to dinner with friends on Saturday night.  We ate at Wild Wok--where we tried sushi for the first time!--and then had dessert at Sweet Frog.  Yum!  It was a fun night!

Today has been a stay-around-home day.  Bradley did some grocery shopping, but Aniston and I stayed home and played.  :)  All in all, a wonderful weekend!

I love a new year. It's a clean slate, and the possibilities are endless.  Just like so many others, I've also made some resolutions for the new year.  I know myself well enough to know that I may not make it past next week (ha!), but I'm using these resolutions as guidelines for living my life this year.  :)

1.   Take at least one picture every day.

2.  Be organized, both at work and at home.

3.  Be present. I'm guilty of often doing two (or more) things at once. I want to slow down and really concentrate on one thing at a time--especially when I'm playing with Aniston.

4.  Blog more.

5.  Stop bringing work home so often.

6.  Be a better everything--wife, mommy, teacher, daughter, sister, friend.

7.  And, last but not least, I have to include the obligatory "lose weight" goal. I'm excited about the weight I've lost so far, but I would love to reach my goal weight this year.

I'm looking forward to a great year!
